In April 2013 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings, which included the work The White Monk by Richard Wilson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 45,000.00 (€ 53,102.60), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Richard Wilson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The White Monk in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 391,000.00 (€ 420,068.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im April 2013 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The White Monk von Richard Wilson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 45.000,00 (€ 53.102,60) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard Wilson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The White Monk im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 391.000,00 (€ 420.068,76).
