This work of art by Richard Westall could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the OLD MASTER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND FRAMES auction, the work The Goddess Roma appearing to Julius Caesar at the bank of the Rubicon changed hands for USD 4,465.00 (€ 5,280.90) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Westall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Faust and Lilith in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 55,250.00 (€ 68,138.59).
