a pair of lithographs, one printed in colours, edition proofs for the front covers of Wendingen, respectively the issue of May 1918 and the Maskernummer 1920;
the 1918 cover on wove paper, inscribed with dedication voor W.H. van Konijnenburg van R.N.R.H., July '18, with margins, soft creasing, some soiling on the reverse, strips of white papertape along the reverse right sheet edge;
the Maskernummer on Van Gelder, signed in pen and ink, numbered no. 4, inscribed with dedication voor W. van Konijnenburg van R.N.R.H., July '20, with upper and lower margin, lightstained, mountstained mainly along the right and left sheet edge, a fold in the upper right corner, some staining on the reverse not showing through, few strips of white papertape along the upper reverse sheet edge, otherwise generally in very good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2000 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction TWENTIETH CENTURY ART, which included the work Wendingen, two covers by Richard Nicolaas Roland Holst. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of NLG 2,000.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of NLG 2,106.36 (€ 898.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Nicolaas Roland Holst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cows in a field, which sold at auction in January 2007 for EUR 2,640.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion TWENTIETH CENTURY ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wendingen, two covers von Richard Nicolaas Roland Holst zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von NLG 2.000,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von NLG 2.106,36 (€ 898,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard Nicolaas Roland Holst mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cows in a field beobachtet, die im Januar 2007 für EUR 2.640,00 versteigert wurde.
