Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1670 by Richard Gibson was sold in the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,920.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Gibson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A fine portrait miniature of Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland (1640-1709), in gold dress with puffed sleeves, slashed to reveal white underdress and fastened at shoulder with three pearl-set bands, diamond-set crucifix worn at corsage, wearing in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 36,071.62)
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A fine portrait miniature of Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland (1640-1709), in gold dress with puffed sleeves, slashed to reveal white underdress and fastened at shoulder with three pearl-set bands, diamond-set crucifix worn at corsage, wearing im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 36.071,62).
