Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1660 by Richard Gibson. The price achieved of GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,246.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Richard Gibson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A fine portrait miniature of Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland (1640-1709), in gold dress with puffed sleeves, slashed to reveal white underdress and fastened at shoulder with three pearl-set bands, diamond-set crucifix worn at corsage, wearing in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 36,071.62).

Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1660 von Richard Gibson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.246,83) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden.
