Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures Part II, which included the work Portrait Of William Henry Lambton (1764-1797) by Richard Cosway. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,803.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Cosway achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Maria Fitzherbert in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 89,207.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of William Henry Lambton (1764-1797) von Richard Cosway zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 4.803,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Cosway erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Maria Fitzherbert im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 89.207,10).
