Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Maria Cosway (1760-1838) by Richard Cosway was sold in the Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 auction at Christies in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 42,130.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Cosway - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Maria Fitzherbert, which sold at auction in July 2019 for GBP 81,250.00 (€ 89,207.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Maria Cosway (1760-1838) von Richard Cosway wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 35.280,00 (€ 42.130,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard Cosway mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Maria Fitzherbert beobachtet, die im Juli 2019 für GBP 81.250,00 (€ 89.207,10) versteigert wurde.
