This artwork by Richard Cosway achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2019. In the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady sold for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,602.80) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00. Admittedly, works by Richard Cosway have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Maria Fitzherbert in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 89,207.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Richard Cosway erzielte im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III wurde die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.602,80) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard Cosway auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Maria Fitzherbert im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 89.207,10).
