Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Richard Billingham achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in August 2020. In the Contemporary Art| London auction, the work Untitled (Ral 6) sold for GBP 4,410.00 (€ 4,941.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Billingham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work (I) Untitled (Ral 4) (Ii) Untitled (Nral 42) (Iii) Untitled (Ral 7) (Iv) Untitled (Ral 38) (V) Untitled (Ral 45) (Vi) Untitled (Ral 43) (Vii) Untitled (Ral 46) (Viii) Untitled (Ral 48) (Ix) Untitled (Ral 50) (X) Untitled (Ral 51), which sold at auction in February 2007 for GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,789.57).
