Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (RAL 18) by Richard Billingham was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,880.00 (€ 2,698.77). Admittedly, works by Richard Billingham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work (I) Untitled (Ral 4) (Ii) Untitled (Nral 42) (Iii) Untitled (Ral 7) (Iv) Untitled (Ral 38) (V) Untitled (Ral 45) (Vi) Untitled (Ral 43) (Vii) Untitled (Ral 46) (Viii) Untitled (Ral 48) (Ix) Untitled (Ral 50) (X) Untitled (Ral 51) in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,789.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (RAL 18) von Richard Billingham im November 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.880,00 (€ 2.698,77) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard Billingham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit (I) Untitled (Ral 4) (Ii) Untitled (Nral 42) (Iii) Untitled (Ral 7) (Iv) Untitled (Ral 38) (V) Untitled (Ral 45) (Vi) Untitled (Ral 43) (Vii) Untitled (Ral 46) (Viii) Untitled (Ral 48) (Ix) Untitled (Ral 50) (X) Untitled (Ral 51) im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.789,57).
