This artwork by Ren Xiong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2017. In the Fine Chinese Paintings auction, the work Figures After Ancient Artists sold for HKD 625,000.00 (€ 68,788.63) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 320,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ren Xiong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Drinking Cards with Illustrations of Daoist Immortals in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 5,765,000.00 (€ 668,633.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 95 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ren Xiong erzielte im Oktober 2017 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings wurde die Arbeit Figures After Ancient Artists für HKD 625.000,00 (€ 68.788,63) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 320.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ren Xiong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Drinking Cards with Illustrations of Daoist Immortals im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.765.000,00 (€ 668.633,27).
