Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ezra Pound Iv by Ray Smith was sold in the First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online auction at Christies in London in March 2021. The price achieved of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,698.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ray Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work El chubasco (triptych), which sold at auction in May 2001 for USD 14,100.00 (€ 16,676.52).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.698,97) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Ray Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit El chubasco (triptych) beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für USD 14.100,00 (€ 16.676,52) versteigert wurde.
