Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Labyrinth of Reflections: The Art of Rashid Rana 1992-2012: Mohatta Palace Museum Karachi in collaboration with Standard Chartered by Rashid Rana was sold in the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Online auction at Bonhams in March this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 344.25 (€ 391.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rashid Rana achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Veil #6 in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 325,250.00 (€ 413,233.79).

Die Arbeit Labyrinth of Reflections: The Art of Rashid Rana 1992-2012: Mohatta Palace Museum Karachi in collaboration with Standard Chartered von Rashid Rana wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Online bei Bonhams versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 344,25 (€ 391,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rashid Rana erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Veil #6 im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 325.250,00 (€ 413.233,79).
