In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Heaven and Earth by Rashid Rana. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,200.00 (€ 22,717.03), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rashid Rana achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Veil #6 in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 325,250.00 (€ 413,233.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Heaven and Earth von Rashid Rana zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 22.717,03) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rashid Rana erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Veil #6 im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 325.250,00 (€ 413.233,79).
