Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two studies of the angel at the Sepulchre announcing the Resurrection to the three Marys, one with a nude figure study for the angel (verso); and Study for the Entombment by Raphael Lamar West was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,25 However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Raphael Lamar West - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of Honeoye Lake, Ontario County, New York State, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,626.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two studies of the angel at the Sepulchre announcing the Resurrection to the three Marys, one with a nude figure study for the angel (verso); and Study for the Entombment von Raphael Lamar West im November 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.250,00 (€ 3.150,58) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Raphael Lamar West mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit View of Honeoye Lake, Ontario County, New York State beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 9.626,78) versteigert wurde.
