In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction British Works on Paper, which included the work Figures striving to pull ashore a storm-tossed ship; and A sublime landscape by Raphael Lamar West. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,400.26) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Raphael Lamar West have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Honeoye Lake, Ontario County, New York State in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,626.78).
