In May 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Fields of Vision: The Private Collection of Artists Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Online Sale, which included the work Untitled Three Figures by R. B. Kitaj. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,375.00 (€ 1,127.60), 72% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by R. B. Kitaj achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Waiting in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 317,000.00 (€ 449,399.53).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fields of Vision: The Private Collection of Artists Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Online Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled Three Figures von R. B. Kitaj zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.375,00 (€ 1.127,60) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von R. B. Kitaj erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Waiting im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 317.000,00 (€ 449.399,53).
