In July 2001 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Drawings incl.Leonardo da Vinci's Horse and Rider, which included the work Phaeton Receiving The Chariot Of The Sun From His Father Apollo by Prospero Fontana. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,393.82), 65% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Prospero Fontana have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Holy Family With Saints John The Baptist And Catherine in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 80,500.00 (€ 96,829.02).

Im Juli 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Drawings incl.Leonardo da Vinci's Horse and Rider durch, in der auch die Arbeit Phaeton Receiving The Chariot Of The Sun From His Father Apollo von Prospero Fontana zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.225,00 (€ 13.393,82) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Prospero Fontana auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Holy Family With Saints John The Baptist And Catherine im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 80.500,00 (€ 96.829,02).
