This price was achieved in the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Pietro de Rossi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Count Alexei Fyodorovich Orlov, Later Prince Orlov (1786-1861) in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 70,498.10).
