Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Apollo and Daphne by Pietro Antonio Novelli was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,512.00 (€ 1,308.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pietro Antonio Novelli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Neptune, Standing, Facing Left, A Dolphin At His Feet in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,931.63).
