Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction From Taddeo to Tiepolo: The Dr. John O’Brien Collection of Old Master Drawings, which included the work A Pastoral Romance by Pietro Antonio Novelli. The price achieved of USD 1,260.00 (€ 1,038.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pietro Antonio Novelli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Neptune, Standing, Facing Left, A Dolphin At His Feet in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,931.63).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.260,00 (€ 1.038,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pietro Antonio Novelli erzielen.
