In April 2008 Christies in London held the auction Old Masterand British Pictures, which included the work A Village Square With A Crowd Watching A Commedia Dell'Arte Spectacle; And A Capriccio View of Antwerp With Fishermen Unloading Their Catch And Selling Their Wares by Pieter Bout. The price achieved of GBP 24,500.00 (€ 31,234.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Bout - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Winter Landscape With Figures Strolling And Unloading A Cart Outside The Walls of A Town, Skating And Sleighing On A Frozen River Nearby, which sold at auction in November 2005 for EUR 84,000.00.
