Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work A young officer seated a table, full face in blue coat with red collar and silver epaulettes, embroidered white waistcoat, frilled cravat and knotted scarf tied at neck, long powdered hair; holding a quill in his right hand, his arm leaning over the by Pierre Rouvier. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,232.50 (€ 3,648.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Pierre Rouvier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Unknown in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,594.71).
