Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, in russet velvet coat, white shirt and lace cravat, black bag wig, powdered wig en queue by Pierre Rouvier was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in December 2008. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,050.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre Rouvier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Unknown in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,594.71).
