Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Pierre Adolphe Hall achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2020. In the Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait Of A Young Boy, Traditionally Identified As Prince Joseph Poniatoski (1762-1813), Circa 1785 sold for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,550.55) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre Adolphe Hall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Dominique Vivant Denon (1747-1825), 1786 in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 73,000.00.
