Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work A Character Portrait, Circa 1790 by Pierre Adolphe Hall was worth GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,592.37) to a buyer in December 2019. This price was achieved in the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre Adolphe Hall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait De Dominique Vivant Denon (1747-1825), 1786, which sold at auction in June 2010 for EUR 73,000.00.
