Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Elijah in the Fiery Chariot by Pier Francesco Mola was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,386.00 (€ 1,199.79). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pier Francesco Mola achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An artist and a youth in January 2002 with an auction result of USD 3,086,000.00 (€ 3,590,877.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Elijah in the Fiery Chariot von Pier Francesco Mola im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.386,00 (€ 1.199,79) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pier Francesco Mola erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An artist and a youth im Januar 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.086.000,00 (€ 3.590.877,36).
