PHILIP TAAFFE (b. 1955) C-Waves signed twice 'Philip Taaffe' (on the stretcher); signed again, titled and dated 'C-WAVES Philip Taaffe 1984' (on the reverse) acrylic, enamel and linoprint collage mounted on canvas 89 1 ⁄ 2 x 89 1 ⁄ 2 in. (227.5 x 227.5 cm.) Executed in 1984.

The work C-Waves by Philip Taaffe was worth USD 113,400.00 (€ 104,304.64) to a buyer in March this year. This price was achieved in the auction The Collection of Thomas & Doris Ammann: Online at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philip Taaffe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Midnight Blue, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 434,500.00 (€ 302,239.84).

Die Arbeit C-Waves von Philip Taaffe war einem Käufer im März diesen Jahres USD 113.400,00 (€ 104.304,64) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion The Collection of Thomas & Doris Ammann: Online bei Christies in New York erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Philip Taaffe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Midnight Blue beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für USD 434.500,00 (€ 302.239,84) versteigert wurde.
