Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Philip Reinagle could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art auction, the work An Otter Hunt changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,654.91) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Reinagle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Exotic birds and insects among trees and foliage in a mountainous river landscape in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 529,150.00 (€ 818,475.22).
