The »bidding war« ended at GBP 840.00 (€ 1,218.41), 68% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philip Rideout - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Going to the meet; Returning from the meet, which sold at auction in February 2002 for USD 2,350.00 (€ 2,714.25).
