Despite a disappointment, a good price for Philip Rideout
When the work Going to the meet; Returning from the meet by Philip Rideout was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,350.00 (€ 2,714.25). Despite this disappointing result, Going to the meet; Returning from the meet is the most expensive artwork by Philip Rideout that we have observed at auction so far.
