Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A coach and four on a country road; and A coach and four before an inn in winter by Philip Rideout was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 517.00 (€ 822.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philip Rideout - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Going to the meet; Returning from the meet, which sold at auction in February 2002 for USD 2,350.00 (€ 2,714.25).
