Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Peter Stackpole could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in December 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs from the Ginny Williams Collection auction, the work Untitled (Saigon) changed hands for USD 1,764.00 (€ 1,442.35) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Peter Stackpole have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 2nd Marine Division, Saipan, 1944 in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,369.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Stackpole konnte im Dezember 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Photographs from the Ginny Williams Collection wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (Saigon) für USD 1.764,00 (€ 1.442,35) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Stackpole auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 2nd Marine Division, Saipan, 1944 im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.375,00 (€ 8.369,79).
