Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Stratosphere by Peter Newman was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 882.00 (€ 1,026.22). Admittedly, works by Peter Newman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Skystation in September 2021 with an auction result of GBP 6,048.00 (€ 7,036.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Stratosphere von Peter Newman im September 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 882,00 (€ 1.026,22) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Newman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Skystation im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.048,00 (€ 7.036,93).
