Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Peter La Cave could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Soldiers And Travellers Before An Inn changed hands for GBP 900.00 (€ 1,289.54) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Peter La Cave have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figures outside an inn, with a sow and piglets, houses beyond; and Figures sharpening a scythe, with two donkeys, farm buildings beyond in October 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,509.87).
