In June 2006 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper Including 'The Blue Rigi' by J.M.W. Turner, R.A., which included the work Figures In A Landscape With Cattle Beyond; And Figures By The Sea With A Donkey by Peter La Cave. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,280.00 (€ 3,299.12), 27% above the upper estimate. Other works by Peter La Cave have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,509.87) in October 2011 for the work Figures outside an inn, with a sow and piglets, houses beyond; and Figures sharpening a scythe, with two donkeys, farm buildings beyond.
