Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work A Drover With His Horse, Sheep And Two Calves, On The Way To Market; And A Drover With His Cattle In A River Landscape by Peter La Cave for GBP 587.50 (€ 832.12). This price was achieved in the auction British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Peter La Cave have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Figures outside an inn, with a sow and piglets, houses beyond; and Figures sharpening a scythe, with two donkeys, farm buildings beyond in October 2011 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,509.87).
