It achieved a price of USD 81,250.00 (€ 69,760.45), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Peter Hurd; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Solitude sold at auction in April this year with the realized price of USD 126,000.00 (€ 114,130.43).

Die Arbeit The Baptising von Peter Hurd wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 81.250,00 (€ 69.760,45) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 63%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Peter Hurd; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Solitude im April diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 126.000,00 (€ 114.130,43).
