Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Peter Hujar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in November last year. In the Photographs auction, the work Christopher Street Pier #2 (Crossed Legs) sold for GBP 44,100.00 (€ 51,101.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Hujar - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work David Wojnarowicz Reclining (II), which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 157,500.00 (€ 136,340.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Peter Hujar erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit Christopher Street Pier #2 (Crossed Legs) für GBP 44.100,00 (€ 51.101,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Hujar mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit David Wojnarowicz Reclining (II) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für USD 157.500,00 (€ 136.340,03) versteigert wurde.
