PAULA REGO (1935-2022) The Crow etching and aquatint, 1994, on wove paper, signed in pencil and inscribed A/P, an artist's proof before the total edition of one hundred, printed by Paul Coldwell at Culford Press, London, with their blindstamp Plate 226 x 190 mm. Sheet 385 x 292 mm.
Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Paula Rego achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in September this year. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work The Crow sold for GBP 3,780.00 (€ 3,780.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paula Rego achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' in October this year with an auction result of GBP 3,065,000.00 (€ 3,519,471.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Paula Rego erzielte im September diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit The Crow für GBP 3.780,00 (€ 3.780,00) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paula Rego erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.065.000,00 (€ 3.519.471,52).
