PAULA REGO (1935-2022) Farewell, from: The Children's Crusade etching and aquatint with handcolouring, 1996-98, on Somerset wove paper, signed in pencil, numbered XIV/XIV A/P, aside from the edition of twenty-five, published by the artist and Marlborough Graphics, London, and Galería Marlborough, Madrid, 1998, printed by Paul Coldwell at Culford Press, London, with their blindstamp Plate 294 x 199 mm. Sheet 508 x 358 mm.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Farewell, from: The Children's Crusade by Paula Rego was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in September this year. The price achieved of GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,268.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paula Rego achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' in October this year with an auction result of GBP 3,065,000.00 (€ 3,519,471.52).

Die Arbeit Farewell, from: The Children's Crusade von Paula Rego kam im September diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.268,00 (€ 2.268,00) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paula Rego erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dancing Ostriches from Walt Disney's 'Fantasia' im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.065.000,00 (€ 3.519.471,52).
