Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work River Po, Luzzara, Italy by Paul Strand was auctioned at Bonhams in London in July this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,480.00 (€ 4,065.34). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Strand achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Akeley Motion Picture Camera, New York, 1922 in April 2013 with an auction result of USD 783,750.00 (€ 595,192.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit River Po, Luzzara, Italy von Paul Strand im Juli diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.480,00 (€ 4.065,34) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul Strand erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Akeley Motion Picture Camera, New York, 1922 im April 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 783.750,00 (€ 595.192,89).
