Sold at the upper estimate price
In June 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including German, Austrian and Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and the Scandinavian Sale, which included the work French fille En Matelot by Paul Mathey. The auction ended at the price of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,864.37), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Mathey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Connoisseur, possibly Erastène Ramiro (1853-1928) in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 47,750.00 (€ 56,093.95).
