Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A river landscape with a farm in the distance by Paul Gabriël was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,250.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Gabriël achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A painter, possibly the artist W.B. Tholen, at work in a punter on a sunny day in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 75,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A river landscape with a farm in the distance von Paul Gabriël im November 2011 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.250,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul Gabriël erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A painter, possibly the artist W.B. Tholen, at work in a punter on a sunny day im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 75.000,00.
