Artwork auctioned at 17 times the upper estimate price
When the work Male Nude (NM 118) by Paul Cadmus was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in November 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 2,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 17 times as high at USD 44,062.50 (€ 39,038.27). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Cadmus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lloyd and Barbara Wescott in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,430,000.00 (€ 2,152,919.29).
Kunstwerk zum 17-fachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Male Nude (NM 118) von Paul Cadmus im November 2021 bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 2.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 44.062,50 (€ 39.038,27) mehr als 17-mal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul Cadmus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lloyd and Barbara Wescott im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.430.000,00 (€ 2.152.919,29).
