It achieved a price of GBP 446.50 (€ 729.91), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 49%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Patrick McMoreland - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work James Hudson, facing right in blue coat, white waistcoat and cravat, powdered wig en queue, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,920.49).
