Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Milk Chocolate by Oscar Murillo was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 48,000.00 (€ 49,064.70). Admittedly, works by Oscar Murillo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 245,000.00 (€ 342,693.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Milk Chocolate von Oscar Murillo im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 48.000,00 (€ 49.064,70) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Oscar Murillo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 245.000,00 (€ 342.693,81).
