In April 2017 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Nepalese Scene by Ong Kim Seng. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 87,500.00 (€ 10,328.13), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ong Kim Seng have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nepal in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 725,000.00 (€ 85,575.95).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im April 2017 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nepalese Scene von Ong Kim Seng zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 87.500,00 (€ 10.328,13) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ong Kim Seng auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nepal im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 725.000,00 (€ 85.575,95).
