Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Man On Porch by Ong Kim Seng was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Online auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 22,500.00 (€ 2,573.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ong Kim Seng achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nepal in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 725,000.00 (€ 85,575.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Man On Porch von Ong Kim Seng wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Online bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 22.500,00 (€ 2.573,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ong Kim Seng erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nepal im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 725.000,00 (€ 85.575,95).
