This artwork by Olamilekan Abatan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March last year. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction auction, the work Lady sold for GBP 17,640.00 (€ 20,914.21) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Olamilekan Abatan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Narcisse, 2022 sold at auction in November last year with the realized price of EUR 36,736.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Olamilekan Abatan erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction wurde die Arbeit Lady für GBP 17.640,00 (€ 20.914,21) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Olamilekan Abatan; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Narcisse, 2022 im November letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 36.736,00.
